  • 1 cup Milk Adds moisture; can be swapped for almond milk for a dairy-free version.
  • 3 tablespoons Melted Butter Enhances flavor and moisture; consider using olive oil for a lighter touch.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Balances sweetness and enhances all flavors; do not omit.
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper Introduces a hint of spice; adjust to taste.
For the Toppings
  • 1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese Provides a rich, tangy flavor; substitutes could include gouda or mozzarella for different profiles.
  • 4 slices Crispy Bacon Adds savory crunch; replace with sautéed mushrooms or crispy tempeh for a vegetarian alternative.
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley & Chives Garnish for added color and freshness.

  3. Remove the hot cast-iron skillet from the oven and add 1 tablespoon of butter, swirling to coat the bottom evenly.
  4. Pour the rested batter into the hot skillet, tilting it for even distribution.
  5. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded sharp cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon evenly over the top of the batter.
  6. Bake in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes without opening the door, until golden brown.
