Ingredients
  

For the Burgers
  • 1 pound ground turkey Opt for extra lean for lower fat
  • 0.5 cup yellow onion Finely chopped
  • 0.25 cup jalapeño Minced, adjust for spice level
  • 2 tablespoons honey Maple syrup can be used as a vegan alternative
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika Regular paprika can be used for a less intense flavor
  • 1 teaspoon thyme Fresh is best, can use dried
  • 1 teaspoon cumin Can be omitted if not available
  • to taste teaspoon salt Enhances all flavors
  • 1 tablespoon oil Olive or avocado oil recommended
  • 4 buns hamburger buns Opt for gluten-free if preferred
For the Avocado Crema
  • 1 ripe avocado Ensure they’re ripe
  • 0.25 cup cilantro Fresh
  • 0.5 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt Coconut yogurt can be used for dairy-free
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice Can substitute with lemon juice
For the Corn Salsa (Optional)
  • 1 cup fresh corn Fresh off the cob preferred
  • 0.25 cup red onion Can be adjusted or omitted
  • 0.25 cup jalapeño Can increase or decrease based on preference
  • 0.25 cup cilantro Optional
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice Essential for flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, yellow onion, jalapeño, honey, smoked paprika, thyme, cumin, and salt. Mix thoroughly until incorporated.
  2. Divide the mixture into 3 to 4 equal portions and shape each into a burger patty, creating a slight well in the center.
  3. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat, drizzle oil, and place the patties in the skillet. Cook for approximately 5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 5 minutes.
  4. In a blender, combine avocado, cilantro, sour cream or Greek yogurt, lime juice, and salt. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  5. Slice the hamburger buns and toast them cut-side down in the same skillet until golden brown.
  6. Spread avocado crema on the top and bottom buns, place cooked turkey patties, add corn salsa and cilantro if desired, then top with the bun.
