For the Salad
  • 2 cups Heirloom Tomatoes Any ripe tomatoes work as a substitute.
  • 1 medium English Cucumber Persian cucumbers can also be used.
  • 4 stalks Scallions Can substitute with chives or red onions.
  • 1 medium Red Chili Pepper Optional, can omit or replace with bell pepper.
  • 1 cup Basil Leaves Mint can be a fun alternative.
For the Dressing
  • 3 tablespoons Tamari (low sodium) Soy sauce for non-gluten option.
  • 2 tablespoons Balsamic Vinegar Rice vinegar makes a great substitute.
  • 1 tablespoon Maple Syrup Agave syrup can be used as a substitute.
For Garnish
  • 2 tablespoons Toasted Sesame Seeds Chopped peanuts or crispy fried onions also work well.
  • 2 tablespoons Garlic Chili Sauce Optional for serving.

Cooking Steps
  1. Start by steaming the frozen gyoza dumplings according to the package instructions, typically taking about 8-10 minutes until they're fully cooked and tender. Toss with sesame oil to prevent sticking.
  2. While the dumplings cook, whisk together tamari, balsamic vinegar, and maple syrup in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  3. Wash and chop the heirloom tomatoes into wedges, slice the English cucumber, and thinly slice the scallions. Fold these vegetables into the cooked dumplings, adding red chili pepper if using.
  4. Tear fresh basil leaves over the salad and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
  5. Your Potsticker Salad is ready to serve! Customize with garlic chili sauce on the side if desired.
