  • 2 teaspoons Instant Dry Yeast
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Table Salt
  • 1 large Egg Beaten
  • 2 tablespoons Dried Potato Flakes Can be omitted
  • 3.5 cups Bread Flour
For the Topping
  • 0.5 cup Shredded Monterey Jack Cheese Or Colby Jack
  • 0.5 cup Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh minced garlic can be used
  • 0.25 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese Nutritional yeast as a dairy-free option
  • 1 tablespoon Dried Oregano Fresh can be used
  • 1 tablespoon Dried Parsley Fresh can be used

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a stand mixer, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add olive oil, beaten egg, and potato flakes; mix on low speed until well combined.
  3. Gradually add bread flour and cheeses; mix on medium speed for 6-7 minutes.
  4. Transfer dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
  5. Punch down the dough, divide into four pieces and shape into logs.
  6. Place shaped logs on a baking sheet; cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  7. Combine garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, oregano, and parsley in a bowl.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F about 15 minutes before baking; score the tops of the loaves.
  9. Brush water over loaves, sprinkle topping, and bake for 16-20 minutes.
  10. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
