- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Add cold cubed butter to the dry mixture and work until coarse crumbs form.
- Pour in the cold buttermilk and mix gently until the dough just comes together.
- Lightly flour your work surface and pat the dough into a rectangle about 1 inch thick.
- To laminate, flatten the dough, fold into thirds, rotate and repeat 2-3 times.
- Roll out the dough to about 1.5 cm (½ inch) thick and cut with a round cutter.
- On half of the rounds, place shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham, then top with remaining rounds.
- Brush the tops with egg wash and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly and garnish with fresh chopped parsley or chives before serving.
