Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Add cold cubed butter to the dry mixture and work until coarse crumbs form.
  4. Pour in the cold buttermilk and mix gently until the dough just comes together.
  5. Lightly flour your work surface and pat the dough into a rectangle about 1 inch thick.
  6. To laminate, flatten the dough, fold into thirds, rotate and repeat 2-3 times.
  7. Roll out the dough to about 1.5 cm (½ inch) thick and cut with a round cutter.
  8. On half of the rounds, place shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham, then top with remaining rounds.
  9. Brush the tops with egg wash and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Let cool slightly and garnish with fresh chopped parsley or chives before serving.
