  • 4 medium Russet Potatoes sliced thin
  • 2 cups Heavy Cream can substitute with half and half
  • 1 cup Whole Milk consider non-dairy milk for a lighter option
  • 4 tablespoons Butter butter for greasing
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese can use Gruyère
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese Pecorino Romano is a good substitute
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 pinch Paprika
  • 1 pinch Nutmeg

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease the baking dish with butter.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Pour in heavy cream and whole milk, stir in salt, pepper, paprika, and nutmeg; heat gently until warm.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, pour half of the cream mixture, and half of the cheddar and Parmesan.
  5. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
