  • 2 tablespoons Oyster Sauce Use vegetarian option for vegan
  • 1 teaspoon White Pepper Can substitute with black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons Water To adjust marinade consistency
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch For velvety beef texture
For the Stir Fry
  • 1 tablespoon Dark Soy Sauce Optional for deeper color
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated Sugar Can use honey or agave
  • 1 cup Low Sodium Chicken Broth Can switch to vegetable broth
  • 2 cups Broccoli Chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 inch Ginger Minced
  • 1 teaspoon Toasted Sesame Oil For drizzling before serving

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Marinate the Beef: Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain, combine with baking soda, Shaoxing wine, light soy sauce, oyster sauce, white pepper, water, and cornstarch. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Prepare Stir-Fry Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together dark soy sauce, granulated sugar, chicken broth, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Set aside.
  3. Blanch Broccoli: Boil salted water, add broccoli for 1-2 minutes until bright green. Drain and set aside.
  4. Cook the Beef: In a hot wok, add oil and sear marinated beef for 30 seconds on each side. Remove and set aside.
  5. Combine Ingredients: In the same wok, stir-fry garlic and ginger, then add blanched broccoli. Add beef and stir-fry sauce, cook until sauce thickens.
  6. Final Touch: Drizzle with toasted sesame oil, toss everything and serve over steamed rice.
