  • 1 pound Ground Beef or ground turkey for a lighter twist
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil can substitute with canola or vegetable oil
  • 1 medium Onion chopped; use yellow, white, or red onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced; or use 1/8 tsp of garlic powder per clove
  • 4 medium Potatoes thinly sliced; russet or Yukon gold preferred
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese shredded; mozzarella can be used
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese grated; can substitute with another hard cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning or swap with oregano and basil
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika try smoked paprika for added flavor
  • to taste Salt adjust according to your preference
  • to taste Pepper adjust according to your preference
  • 1 cup Beef Broth or use water; vegetarian broth can be used
  • 1/2 cup Milk optional; almond or oat milk for non-dairy
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley chopped; optional for garnish

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with olive oil.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking for 3-4 minutes until onions are translucent.
  4. Transfer the beef mixture to the baking dish and layer thinly sliced potatoes on top, seasoning with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  5. Sprinkle cheddar and Parmesan cheese over the potatoes and pour beef broth around the edges of the dish.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until potatoes are fork-tender and cheese is golden.
  8. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving and enjoy!
